About Me.

Hi there, and welcome!

MY NAME IS SHANNON!

I created this site as a resource for anyone looking to take control of their finances with confidence and clarity. Whether you're a military family navigating unique life transitions, a young professional planning your future, or a busy parent trying to make smarter money moves—you're in the right place.

My background is in finance, with a bachelor’s degree from UMUC and an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) certification. I’m currently working toward my master’s degree in accounting with GSW. My passion lies in helping people feel empowered, not overwhelmed, when it comes to money.

Over the years, I’ve worked with a variety of individuals and families, each with different goals, challenges, and dreams. My experience as a military spouse has given me a special understanding of the financial demands that come with a transient lifestyle—but my commitment to clear, judgment-free financial education extends to everyone, regardless of background.

Education

Bachelors of Finance

University of Maryland University College

I have a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Maryland University College (UMUC). During my studies, I gained a strong foundation in financial analysis, budgeting, investment strategies, and risk management. I also developed proficiency in financial software tools and Excel for data analysis.

Some of my key accomplishments include completing a capstone project on financial planning for individuals and businesses, which helped refine my practical skills in applying financial concepts to real-world scenarios. Additionally, I participated in group projects that emphasized collaboration, problem-solving, and communication, skills that I now use in my work as a financial professional and in running my business, Noir Financial Literacy.

Master Business Administration Accounting

Georgia Southwestern State University

I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Accounting from Georgia Southwestern State University, where I specialized in accounting with a concentration that allowed me to deepen my knowledge and skills in financial analysis, strategic decision-making, and investment management. This advanced education has equipped me with a strong foundation to help individuals and families, especially military members, navigate their financial journeys. My passion for financial literacy and planning is further enhanced by my continuous commitment to professional development.

Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC)

As an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), I have achieved a certification that demonstrates my expertise in providing financial counseling and education. The AFC credential equips me with the knowledge and skills to guide individuals and families through a wide range of financial challenges, from budgeting and debt management to retirement planning and wealth building. This certification underscores my commitment to helping clients make informed decisions and take control of their financial futures with practical, actionable advice. By applying the principles learned through the AFC program, I’m able to offer personalized, empathetic support to those navigating their financial journey.
